How we work
We run every project in the same order: from establishing the question, through the data, to a report that can be checked.
Questions before signing a contract
Where do you start?
By establishing what the question actually is. The task set at the outset is sometimes an answer to a different question from the one that really hurts.
How do you know a conclusion is true?
We compare at least two independent sources. One source gives a result. Two give certainty or a discrepancy, and a discrepancy usually reveals a wrong assumption.
What does the report look like?
Always in the same order: observation, source, conclusion, recommendation. Description comes before assessment, so the data and the conclusions can be judged separately. Every statement is backed by a number, a quotation or the name of a specific element. Gaps in knowledge are named plainly.
How can you be sure the report will be complete?
Before every delivery we check the report against a fixed checklist, the same every time.
What we expect from the client
Access to data. Every conclusion rests on it.
Conversations with the people who do the work, and with those who manage it.
Information on what stage the decision is at. The scope of the work depends on it.
How it starts
Message. Two sentences: what needs to be decided and by when.
An answer on whether and how we can help.
Initial conversation. We establish the question and access to data.
Scope proposal in options. What the company gets with a narrower scope and what with a wider one.
Start. The date depends on whether research with users is needed.
