Board advisory

One decision after another about the product, processes and AI is made on recommendations from firms that earn money from those decisions. We take a seat at the table as a party with no stake in the outcome.

“We need someone from outside at the table who has no stake in the answer.”

Note for decision-makers

Result
A standing partner in decisions who comes prepared, asks uncomfortable questions and says plainly what is not yet known.
Makes sense when
The board is making a series of decisions about change, and recommendations come from contractors and departments, each defending its own interest.
Does not make sense when
The board is looking for someone to back a decision already taken.
The first question we will ask
Which decisions in the coming months will be hardest to reverse? We start with those.

How the collaboration works

Whatever the form, the same principles apply:

  • Material before the meeting. For each decision we prepare a short note: what is known, how it is known, what is missing.

  • Facts separated from assumptions. The note shows which sentence rests on data and which is an assumption. A decision can also be taken on an assumption, as long as it is taken knowingly.

  • The cost of checking before the decision. If a decision requires measurement, we say what kind, how long it will take and how much it costs. The board decides whether it is worth it.

What boards come to us with

  • An offer to implement a system or AI that nobody in the company can assess.
  • A recommendation from a department that gains budget or people from the change.
  • A decision on rebuilding the product that the next several years depend on.
  • Metrics that have not moved for months despite one project after another.

What you can count on

An independent view on every decision. When there is no time for measurement, the board knows what assumption the decision rests on and what to watch after it is made.

What the price depends on

The form and frequency of the collaboration. The number of topics. Whether the scope includes preparing analyses or only taking part in decisions.

Let's talk about your case.

The shortest route is one sentence about what you are trying to decide. We will get back to you on whether and how we can help.
